For Artists

Do I have to live in the U.S. to apply?
At this time, DDP can only accept dancers within the U.S. We are working toward opening applications to dancers worldwide in the future.

Do I only get paid once per screening, or do I get paid for each piece I’m in if I’m in multiple pieces per screening?
For the moment, you will be paid once per screening.

Can I use my own dancers for a DDP piece?
We ask that choreographers use our DDP-affiliated dancers for their works, but we’re always looking for new talent. If you have an outside dancer in mind and think they would be a good fit for DDP, please let us know! We’re happy to expedite their application process to help them be a part of your vision and future projects with DDP.

How do dancers and choreographers get paid?
All ticket sales come into our Paypal and we distribute payments to the dancers from Paypal after a screening.

How much do dancers and choreographers get paid?
It depends on how much comes in through ticket sales. Everything that comes in through sales will be distributed evenly to the dancers and choreographers.

In light of the economic challenges of COVID-19, we want to do our part to give back to communities that are hurting. $1 of every ticket sale for the 2020-2021 season is donated to a rotating list of humanitarian organizations.

How do I submit a piece to the Digital Dance Project?
Once you are accepted as an affiliated choreographer, you will receive a work submission application.

If I choreograph a piece for a DDP Screening, will that piece still be mine?
Absolutely. DDP doesn’t own any of the work that you do under the project. It’s yours to keep and use as you like. We will only retain the rights to use it in promotional material for future events.

Are donations to DDP Tax Deductible?
Unfortunately, not yet. We hope to be able to apply for tax-exempt status in the near future. If you would like to help us offset some of our operational costs, you can do so here.

How much of ticket sales and donations are going to the admin and staff?
Admin and staff of DDP only begin to receive a percentage of proceeds from ticket sales once all artists (dancers and choreographers) have received $50 for a show.

How do DDP’s charity donations work?
$1 out of every DDP ticket sold (including discounted tickets) will go to one of a rotating list of humanitarian organizations. Although we believe that art is an essential expression of the human spirit, we are proud to recognize and support charities which are on the front lines of making the world a better place. When ticket sales open for a performance, you’ll be able to find out more about the chosen charity on our Events page.
