Rafael Ferreras received his ballet training in New York with Dance Theatre of Harlem and Joffrey Ballet. Memphis audiences know him for his leading roles in Romeo and Juliet, Dracula, Mark Godden’s Firebird, Angels in the architecture and Midsummer Night’s Dream as well as The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake. He also performed in Trey McIntyre’s Memphis, The Naughty Boy, Touched, Second Before the Ground and High Lonesome. He has danced with Tulsa Ballet, Hartford Ballet, New Jersey Ballet, Elisa Monte Dance and The Metropolitan Opera Ballet.
His first main stage ballet choreographed for Ballet Memphis, Politics, debuted in New York City in 2015. Other works include Memphis Made, Iola Southern Fields, Le Bouef sur le Toit and Constructive Critic. Rafael’s work also includes collaborations with The Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Iris Orchestras) u, Hattiloo Theatre and Macgillivray Freeman films.
